Ethanol causes lost MPG, power and performance
Ethanol-containing fuel does not produce as much energy content as conventional petrol, thus contributing to lower MPG. Deposit formation is also more common with ethanol-containing fuel and can further interrupt the fuel/air ratio causing more severe driveability problems such as inefficient combustion.
BG Ethanol Corrosion Preventer, PN 212, contains special stabilisers that prevent fuel oxidation, gum and varnish formation. Used in ethanol-containing fuel at each fill-up, BG Ethanol Corrosion Preventer will keep the entire fuel system clean, improving performance and power and restoring fuel economy.
Ethanol holds water
Ethanol attracts, absorbs and holds water, which is highly temperature-dependent and can freeze in cold weather. If too much water gets into the fuel, ethanol and water will settle at the bottom of the tank. Just one drop over the limit can cause all the water to separate from the fuel, leaving an Incombustible glop at the bottom of your tank. And the moisture can cause corrosion to the fuel system and erratic engine operation.
BG Ethanol Fuel System Drier, PN 281, forms a stable solution with water and gasoline allowing a certain amount of undesirable water in the tank to pass harmlessly through the fuel system, without affecting the combustion process.
Ethanol causes damage and wear
Ethanol is a mildly acidic molecule, which accelerates the corrosion process in metal components found in the fuel system.
Heavier deposits occur in lower concentrations of ethanol-containing gasoline (such as E10 or E15) because ethanol is not compatible with the traditional detergents in gasoline. The ethanol destabilises the fuel and Increases its tendency to oxidize and degrade. These contaminants can cause premature filter plugging and Injector fouling, which can interrupt the fuel/air ratio causing inefficient combustion.
BG Ethanol Corrosion Preventer neutralises acids and forms a protective coaling on fuel system components to prevent corrosion. It contains special stabilisers that prevent fuel oxidation, gum and varnish formation.
