BG EPR® - The best engine repair product is a maintenance product

December 22, 2014

At BG Products, we’re always gathering evidence about the effectiveness of our products, both numerical and anecdotal. As the same issues affect motorists across world, and as BG is a global brand – results are stacking up from impressed service technicians around the world.

This example from a technician in the US about BG Engine Performance Restoration is one of many about the product – A customer brought in a poor-running 2006 3.6L Chevrolet. The oil light was on and the vehicle actually sounded like a diesel. The technician logically assumed the problem was serious, possibly involving a new engine; but thought he would try BG EPR® - and, much to his surprise, halfway through a second oil change involving BG EPR®, the engine quietened down and smoothed out. He saved the customer several thousand dollars, and she’s still driving the car today!

Over the last several years, we’ve heard great things about BG EPR® - from technicians from here to India. And since introduction (originally named BG 109) in 2005, we’ve seen nothing but OUTSTANDING test results.

The results are in: BG EPR® is outstanding!

Original testing of BG EPR® consisted of performing before and after compression tests with an oil change including BG EPR® in between. Compression affects the overall power output and drivability of the engine. Results from multiple vehicles proved that BG 109 did raise compression. The results also showed an improvement on individual cylinders that were showing lower compression than the other cylinders of the same engine.

New technology needs BG EPR®

As technology evolves around engine design, we are finding that the use of BG EPR® is becoming critical to maintain the integrity of the engine. Sophisticated engine management systems are put in place to provide better engine flexibility with the intentions of increasing fuel economy, power and lowering emissions.

The most common of these systems is Variable Valve Timing (VVT). These systems are protected by small screens (filters) that keep contamination from interfering with operations. If these screens get contaminated with deposits, the system can’t operate properly and the result is a poor running engine.

Routine maintenance with BG EPR® will greatly increase the efficiency of these engine management systems, while restoring fuel economy, performance and lowering emissions.

Diesels need BG EPR®

We have also seen great results with BG EPR® in diesel engines. The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a big issue in the diesel industry right now. A recent case study on a 2008 Ford F-250, Power Stroke® with 44,859 miles showed an increase in horsepower, torque, compression and even increased the efficiency of the DPF.

Most recently we did before and after BG EPR® testing on a 2010 Dodge Cummins 2500 6.7L with only 18,890 miles. The 3% increase in horsepower and 3% increase in torque is evidence that BG EPR® is once again cleaning the rings and increasing compression. Remember, compression is power and everyone loves power!

Don’t wait until the prognosis is a failed engine. Using BG 109 as a routine maintenance item can save a person (or a fleet) thousands of dollars a year in fuel and in repair work.
